BFP (BASIC FIGHTING PISTOL)

The BFP is my version of a basic practical carry gun. This pistol is tuned to increase reliability while improving accuracy and ergonomics at the same time.  By selecting parts such as a spur or ring hammer, a National Match barrel bushing and a standard or GI thumb safety, it can also be a very "Retro" 1911.   The standard features include:

- 4 to 4 1/2 lb. trigger job with the factory hammer, Ultimate sear and BFP disconnector.
- Solid aluminum Videcki-style trigger with permanently attached overtravel stop in long or short length.  A medium trigger is also available with a hole in the front of the trigger.
- Yost rear sight with a black serrated dovetail front sight.
- EGW match barrel bushing (with thick flange) fit finger tight.
- Muzzle cut flush with bushing and recrowned.
- BFP checkered slide stop.
- Reliability Package including a BFP barstock extractor and an EGW oversize firing pin stop to keep the extractor from moving.
- Factory thumb safety refit to the new ignition parts.
- Round the edges of the factory grip safety,  Modify it for use with a commander hammer if necessary.
- Flat 20 LPI serrated steel mainspring housing.
- Recoil, spring, firing pin spring and sear spring.
- Rosewood, cocobolo or ebony double diamond checkered grips.
- Mild dehorn keeping the gun’s lines intact.
- Matte blue refinish with the sides of the slide polished.

Total price for this package is $735 plus return shipping and insurance. Suitable base guns include Colt Series 70 and 80 1911s and Commanders, Springfield Armory Mil-Specs, GIs and similar pistols.
